Ile Des Chenes

Ile des Chênes Forcemain and Watermain

Project Description

Full civil delivery of new forcemain and watermain infrastructure in Ile des Chênes — directional drilling for the majority of mains, all tie‑ins and valves, a new lagoon outflow structure, and full commissioning.

Overview
No Limits Underground completed the civil works for a new lift station forcemain and watermain in Ile des Chênes. The project combined trenchless installation, open‑cut tie‑ins, and concrete works at the lagoon outflow to deliver a durable, fully commissioned system.

Scope of Work

  • Trenchless installation via Directional drilling for the forcemain and watermain.
  • Open‑cut tie‑ins, valve installations, thrust blocks and fittings.
  • Cofferdam construction and poured concrete outflow pad for the lagoon connection.
  • Pressure testing, swabbing, flushing, chlorination and commissioning.
  • Site access, erosion controls, utility coordination and as‑built documentation.

Challenges

  • Multiple highway, pipeline and utility crossings requiring encasement and engineered details.
  • Variable subsurface conditions that required specialized tooling and trenchless expertise.
  • Work adjacent to an active lagoon and sensitive watercourses requiring careful dewatering and environmental controls.

Solution and Outcome
NLU executed trenchless installations to minimize surface disruption and meet cover requirements. The lagoon outflow was rebuilt using cofferdam methods and a reinforced concrete pad to ensure long‑term performance. All tie‑ins and valves were completed with coordinated shutdowns, and the system was fully pressure tested, disinfected and handed over with complete documentation.
