Rural Saskatchewan Force Main and Rail Crossing Replacements
Project Description
Full civil delivery of a force‑main replacement in rural Saskatchewan — HDD installation, and a cost‑saving CIPP solution that avoided complex rail tunnelling and permitting.
Overview
No Limits Underground delivered the full civil construction for a multi‑stage force‑main replacement and rail crossing project in rural Saskatchewan. The work included trenchless and open‑cut installation of HDPE force mains, site mobilization, testing, and final tie‑ins across multiple constrained and environmentally sensitive locations.
Scope of Work
- Full civil construction for force‑main replacement using HDD and trenchless methods where required.
- Trenching, backfill, swab launches, pressure testing, flushing, disinfection, and commissioning.
- Coordination and management of specialty subcontractors for CIPP lining and other specialty works.
- Site staging, utility coordination, environmental controls, and permitting support.
Solution and Value‑Add
NLU executed HDD and trenchless installations with specialized tooling and equipment to overcome challenging ground conditions. For the rail crossing, we proposed and coordinated a CIPP lining alternative for the existing water and sewer mains crossing beneath the existing rail corridor. This approach eliminated the need for extensive tunnelling, steel casing installations, and additional rail permits — delivering a safer, faster, and more economical solution for the municipality.
Outcome
- Force main installed and commissioned using HDD and trenchless techniques where required.
- Major crossings completed with engineered controls and regulatory coordination.
- Cost and schedule savings realized through the CIPP alternative at the rail crossing.
- Project delivered with full testing, disinfection, documentation, and readiness for takeover
